Celtic sea salt: the pure power of the ocean

Salt seems so ordinary that most people never stop to think about it.
Yet it is one of the most important substances in our body. Without salt, our cells cannot function. Salt is indispensable for your body. But not all salt is created equal:

Table salt is refined, bleached, and heated. It contains hardly anything more than sodium chloride and is often provided with additives. Celtic sea salt, on the other hand, is unrefined, moist, and rich in minerals. It carries the power of the ocean within it and is harvested with respect for nature.

What makes Celtic sea salt so special?
And how does it differ from ‘ordinary’ sea salt? Discover the rich history, unique composition, and benefits of this artisanal product.

2000 years of artisanal tradition

In Guérande, France, the salt marshes created by the Celts more than 2000 years ago still remain.
Using a clever system of canals, they allowed seawater to flow through a series of shallow basins. Within about two weeks, the water evaporates, after which the salt is dried by the sun and scooped up by hand. Today, this process is still carried out in exactly the same way as it was back then.

Because the salt absorbs minerals from the clay soil during this process, it acquires a characteristic light grey color.
The interaction between clay and seawater not only ensures natural purification but also enriches the salt with various minerals and trace elements. As a result, the sodium chloride content drops to below 90% (approx. 33% sodium and 54% chloride). By comparison, regular sea salt contains 97-99% sodium chloride. The result? A creamy, smooth taste and a unique mouthfeel that you won't find anywhere else.

Why Celtic sea salt?

Celtic sea salt is more than just a seasoning. It fits perfectly into a conscious, healthy lifestyle and is recommended by many nutritionists and therapists. This is why:

  • 100% artisanal: Harvested manually and traditionally, just like 2,000 years ago.

  • Natural and pure: Sun-dried, unprocessed, and without additives such as anti-caking agents or aluminum compounds.

  • Rich in minerals: Contains dozens of trace elements that your body immediately recognizes and uses.

  • Lower sodium: A healthier alternative to regular table salt.

  • Living salt: Unlike refined table salt, which is ‘dead’ and can burden the body, Celtic sea salt retains its natural power.
